A Spontaneous Sermon Rewind

How do you have a “written” sermon rewind of a sermon that you never wrote?

How can you recap a message that had a spontaneous delivery, far from the norm of an internalized message stemming for a carefully prepared manuscript?

Well, two friends from social media offered their summaries soon after delivery yesterday morning.  Here’s the first:

RACISM is not a skin problem, ITS A SIN PROBLEM!! Don’t expect structured government to solve a SPIRITUAL PROBLEM! We are bought with the blood of Jesus. The blood inside distinguishes, but the blood applied extinguishes. His blood is in me! It’s in you! We are not our own. We are HIS!! Six pounds of skin DOES NOT MAKE THE PERSON! Look inside. Thank God for the message I received today!

And here’s the second:

As I’ve prayed fervently for my country and my loved ones especially these past few days, I knew I was to make a statement of solidarity, unity, and love with those different from me. Thankfully, each time I began to type The Spirit gently nudged me with a “Not yet, Sarah.” Now I know it was because this line from Talbot’s sermon needed to be shared with friends and family:
The blood 🩸 inside DISTINGUISHES ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
White
Black
Latino
Asian
BUT THE BLOOD APPLIED (that’s Jesus’, y’all) ✝️
EXTINGUISHES ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hate
Separation
Sin
Hurt

So come to the table. There’s room here. You’re wanted here.
You. Are. Loved. Here.

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:13-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
